Services Alliances Program Office - Senior Program Manager (Sales/Bus Dev/A lliances)

Job Description Summary

The Services Alliances Program Office is responsible for operations, partner compliance, partner enablement, and program management support for the Services Alliances organization and programs. This team executes the programmatic, operational, and administrative tasks and deliverables to support program objectives and the effective operations of Services Alliances and the partner ecosystem. The Services Alliances Program Office provides the data, tracking, reports, tools, processes, optimization, methodologies and communications to support strategic services alliances programs and operational initiatives.

The Services Alliances Program Office - Senior Program Manager will focus on various general operational programs to support the Services Alliances organization and services partner ecosystem, with an emphasis on cross-functional initiatives driving organizational improvements and process efficiencies.  For example, the Program Manager may be engaged in facilitating Partner On-boarding/Off-boarding, Partner Standards, Security Audits, Conference Registration, Team Meetings, Process Definition, Partner Readiness, Partner Surveys, Partner Agreements, Partner Enablement and a variety of other ongoing activities.  

The role is highly visible, with extensive interaction across such teams as Workday services, sales, product management, product marketing, industry go-to-market, services operations, resource management, legal, education services, implementation strategy and enablement, field readiness teams, and partners. A solid understanding of professional services, sales and alliances functions is required. 

A critical program management function is facilitation of cross-functional meetings to identify, analyze and resolve issues and drive the required actions and deliverables. The Senior Program Manager cannot be an expert in all areas but must have the confidence and resourcefulness to acquire necessary knowledge and manage the stakeholders to advance the programs and achieve objectives.

The Senior Program Manager must possess strong communication skills leveraging various communication vehicles (emails, presentations, Google Docs, Community posts, etc.) that are targeted to diverse stakeholders and groups. Understanding audiences and appropriate levels of details are critical given program management communications will be targeted to both executive, internal teams and external partner audiences.

Given the dynamic nature of Workday, the diverse, extensive reach of Services Alliances and the fast-paced, flexibility and adaptability required for any operations-related function, the Senior Program Manager must always be looking forward, anticipating different alternatives and options to support our ever changing environment.  In parallel, the Senior Program Manager must always be evaluating and gathering input and feedback to adjust and improve processes and programs, as well as anticipating and recommending new ways of operating aligned with Services Alliances objectives.

In this role, the Senior Program Manager will represent Workday and the partner ecosystem's interests as it relates to operational and programmatic changes within Workday.  


  • Define, update and maintain various operation processes and programs, leveraging industry best practices, to a diverse, globally distributed services partner ecosystem. 
  • Support the alliance management team in driving initiatives.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and other program managers cross functionally to understand program requirements, support and manage programs, complete effective transitions and collect feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify new programs and services to enable the services partner ecosystem and the effective operations of the Services Alliances organization.
  • Ensure partner compliance elements are met and deliverables are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage and facilitate cross-functional meetings.
  • Manage and engage with Workday partners as needed to support the required program activities.
  • Identify and develop key metrics to measure program effectiveness such as program usage and satisfaction. 


  • BS in Business, Technology, General Studies; MBA desirable
  • 6 - 8 years of project/program management experience with extensive experience in process development/improvement
  • 4  -6 years services, sales, alliances/channels and/or operations experience; NOT considering technical program management backgrounds
  • Background in enterprise software or fast-paced high technology environment
  • Strong technology / tools orientation to effectively manage programs
  • Proven analytical skills, including the ability to develop reports and spreadsheets
  • Excellent people skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties
  • Ability to manage multiple priority tasks simultaneously
  • "Can-do" work ethic, team-oriented, and poised interpersonal style
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills
  • PMI Project Management Certification or related training a plus
