We are currently seeking a Perioperative Clerk in our Operating Room.  Suburban Hospitals OR features 11 fully equipped surgical rooms, including two Open Heart suites, a cystoscopy suite, and a dedicated ophthalmology suite.


The Perioperative Clerk coordinates communication and the functions of the O.R. Control Desk in collaboration with the Clinical Director and/or designee to ensure a smooth-running, efficient surgical schedule.

  • Keeps the Operating Room "Master Schedule" up to date.
  • Reviews designated documentation for completeness.
  • Communicates with the OR regarding progress of the daily elective schedule as well as add on urgent/emergent cases.
  • Verifies and communicates any changes in surgical times, procedures, status of patient, etc. with OR nursing personnel, anesthesia, nursing units, physicians, and admissions as needed.
  • Initiates sending for patients from in-house units to ensure arrival in the OR as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Full Time, 40hrs per week
  • Evening Shift, 2:30p - 11p
  • Monday to Friday



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two years of hospital work experience as a medical secretary or unit secretary required.
  • One year Operations Control clerk experience preferred. 
  • Experience with automated systems required; previous automated scheduling experience preferred.
