The Montgomery County Department of Parks, Enterprise Division, is currently seeking seasonal/intermittent applicants to fill a variety of positions throughout Montgomery County.

Work hours are flexible and include evening, nights, holidays and weekends.  These Facilities are closed during the winter months (generally November - February).  All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills, attain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (training classes available) and attend in-house orientation.  Ages 16 - 17 must have a work permit if hired.08

Opportunities include:

Boat Dock Hand - Facility Aide I, II, III ($ 10.75-$13.60/hr)
Provide assistance to children and adults in a boat rental setting.  Assist with troubleshooting and repair of row boats, pedal boats; canoes, and kayaks.  Clean and maintain boats, life jackets, boating equipment, docks, and grounds at the marina.  Perform marina service and serve as dockhand.  Work outside for 8 hours per day.  Perform custodial maintenance. Display fundamental computer skills, including operation of a point of sale system.  Qualifications: Weekend work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16

Boat Shop Assistant Manager - Facility Manager Aide I, II, III ($10.90-15.75/hr)
Assists Facility Manager with managing and operating a boat rental facility. Responsibilities include managing staff, schedules, programs and revenues. Supervises staff engaged in operational activities, cash handling, and custodial maintenance related to facility operations. Prepares cash reports and bank deposits for manager's approval.  Notifies Park Manager of facility needs and requests orders for supplies. Qualifications: Weekend work is mandatory. Minimum of one year of boat operating experience (including motor boat). Boaters Safety Course must be completed before hiring. Minimum age: 18
 
Pontoon Tour Operator - Facility Manager Aide I, II, III ($10.90-15.75/hr)
Operates weekend public pontoon tours of the lake as well as private rides and programs during the week.  When not operating the tour boat, Pontoon Operator assists Manager Aides with all aspects of managing and operating the boat rental facility.  Supervises staff engaged in operational activities, cash handling and custodial maintenance related to facility operations. Qualifications: Weekend work is mandatory. Minimum of one year of boat operating experience (including motor boat). Boaters Safety Course must be completed before hiring. Minimum age: 18

Campground Attendant - Facility Aide I, II, III ($10.75-$13.60/hr)
Candidate must possess the following skills or abilities:  Fundamental computer skills - training on our system will be provided. Excellent customer service skills needed to answer phone calls; handle cash and point of sale transactions to reserve campsites. Other duties include bank deposits, opening and closing facility, emailing customer permits and follow up correspondence.  Sell merchandise from the camp store.   Assist with store inventory and Campground activity programs, when needed.  Qualifications: Ability to work weekday, weekend and evening hours March through November.  Qualifications: Minimum age: 18

Campground Activities Assistant - Facility Aide I, II, III ($10.75-$13.60/hr)
Assist the Campground Activities Coordinator with camper activities and amenities such as pedal karts, jumping pillow, movie nights, ice cream socials, arts and crafts and leading nature hikes. Duties include activity set up clean up. This position works closely with the campers to provide excellent customer service. Campground activities and amenities are scheduled April through October.  Qualifications: Weekend work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16

Campground Activities Coordinator - Manager Aide I, II, III ($10.90-$15.75/hr)
Assist the Campground Facility Manager with programming and facilitating activities at the campground.  Lead camper activities and manage amenities including pedal karts, jumping pillow, movie nights, ice cream socials, laser tag, and leading nature hikes. Program and facilitate arts and crafts activities. Work with the Campground Manager to promote and market programs. This position works closely with the campers to provide excellent customer service. Campground activities are scheduled April through October. This position is great for college students majoring in Parks and Recreation, and/or event management. Qualifications: Ability to work weekday, weekend and evening hours April through October. Minimum age: 18

Campground Maintenance Attendant - Facility Aide I, II, III ($10.75 - $13.60/hr)
Responsible for maintenance of approximately 91 wooded campsites, 3 bath houses, a Camp Store and Campground booth. Duties include removing ashes from fire pits, trash removal, sweep and mop facility floors, clean bath houses and yurts, set up and clean camper ready tents, collect recycling and transport firewood.  Qualifications: Weekend work required April - October. Minimum age: 18

Splash Park and Miniature Golf Assistant Manager - Facility Manager Aide I, II, III ($10.90-$15.75/hr)
Minimum of 1 year or pool operating experience. Manages and operates a splash park and miniature golf facility having limited staff, schedules, programs, and revenues. Supervises staff engaged in program activities; cash handling operations and custodial maintenance. Prepares cash reports and bank deposits. Notifies Park Manager of facility needs and requests orders for supplies. Qualifications: Must possess a valid Montgomery County Pool Operator's License. Weekend work is mandatory. Minimum age: 18  
 
Splash Park and Miniature Golf Cashier - Facility Aide I, II, III ($10.75-$13.60/hr)
Performs routine tasks associated with various recreation programs and activities at the splash park and miniature golf facility including cleaning and maintenance.  Assist management staff on the splash deck area with crowd control.  Cashiers are responsible for the collection of admission and course registration fees and serve as the facility's first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns.  Cashiers must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (i.e. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), have a pleasant demeanor, and also be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees, and policies.  Cash handling experience preferred.  Qualifications: Weekend work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16 
 
Train/Carousel Ride Operators - Facility Manager Aide I, II, III ($10.90-$15.75/hr)
Responsible for the daily operation of train and carousel rides and/or ticket sales for seasonal outdoor facilities (Cabin John Regional Park-train, Wheaton Regional Park - train and carousel). Tasks include daily opening and closing duties, safe operation of the rides, fiscal accountability for ticket sales, and cleanliness of the overall facility.  Ability to deal with large volumes of patrons in an outdoor setting is a must.  Qualifications: Weekend and Evening work is mandatory.  Minimum age: 18

Train - Special Event Staff for Halloween - Facility Manager Aide I, II, III ($10.90-$15.75/hr)
(September through 1st week of November)
Responsible for creating, decorating, and implementing a Halloween (Eye Spy - Cabin John Train) and (Scary Halloween Train at Wheaton Train) themed experience for customers. Staff would also work the event either as a cashier or role playing (a scary villain) out in the park around the train tracks. Need creative ideas and theatrical experience preferred. Set up during September.  Operations on weekends in October.  Breakdown and clean up the 1st week of November.  Qualifications:  Weekend hours are required during the event dates in October. Minimum age:  18
